Thernian Rajnaruk
The Thernians is one of the most infamous species due to their shady history and connection to Dark Magic and witches. Thernians are very magical, and each are born with a powerful magical center. They are calm, intelligent and cunning. They are mostly solitary, while living in their only city they mostly fend for themselves as loners.
TEMPRAMENT AND SOCIETYDescribed by most as calm, cunning and solidary, a Thernian could go their entire lives without interacting with another Raj and still be content. While they lack physical strenght, they have a bias to magic and spells. Thernians are rarely seen angry but when they do many describe them as terrifying and a force of nature. While they're not bold, they're usually always planning one step ahead and know when to take risks. If it turns out the risks aren't worth it or there's a low chance of success, they'll not bother
Despite their calm and mysterious personalities and behaviours, they can lose their temper and be very aggressive and proactive, taking the position of leading and fighting. They have a history of influencing major world events.. Despite their high social independence, some Thernian choose to hang around other wolves due to common interest and mutual benefits. Either their own kind or other Raj. They are highly adaptable, and adapts into new societies if they travel to other lands. Thernians are surprisingly not rare, and often shows up throughout history as mysterious figures. The most well known being a wolf named Feyros, who is currently labelled as a 'person of interest' by Caedric society. Despite this, most Thernians deny having any knowledge of who Feyros is or his connections. Thernians are very independent, even within their own society. Rarely feeling or express much emotion if raised within the Shadow Lands, relying only on themselves. Thernians that grows up outside of the Shadowlands usually have and express more emotion and can develop bonds with other Raj. Thernians likes to stay clean, and will often spend some time of their day to groom their fur to make sure there are no lumps or tangles. |

Because of their high intelligence and independence, they're the only species who are not directly led by the Jarl and the Nobleborn family. While the Nobleborns have a strong influence over the Thernians in the Shadowlands, they do not directly command their wolves. The current Jarl has never been seen by the Outside world, but rumours has it that she had 13 children, whose which identities remains unknown. Because of the Nobleborn's family's lack of governing, the Thernians mostly rule themselves and police themselves of what is socially acceptable. They are also one of the few species who openly do not mate with wolves of other species.
Surrounded by supersition and mistrust. They had a lot of involvement with Dark Magic and Witches throughout their history. Dark and Blood Magic fills the mountain of the Thernians, and it's not uncommonly practiced. While the outside world shuns the use of both types of magic, Thernians don't have the same worry. It's not openly talked about. They all have a mutual understanding that some of them do practice these Dark Arts, but do not report it to the higher ups. They are natural at magic, and it's second hand to them, just like biting or swimming is for other wolves.
They are a strong culture that has suffered greatly throughout the years. They are mysterious, and have a calm aura about them. They've also shown to be very talented mages and have a lot Artist to their species history. They are rather unapproachable and cold but not hostile. If someone approaches their city they are allowed entry but many decide to leave due to the uneasiness of their lands and the ghoulish feeling. Because of this many are afraid of them, and they've been titled as "Doom wolves" due to their regal and hollow appearance
Despite their long lifespans, Thernians grow up quickly. They're considered pups between the ages of 0-1, juvenile up to 3 years, adolescent up to 10 years. They're sexually mature at the age of 20. They're considered young adults up to they're 30, an adult up to 100 years, then elder for the remaining years of their life.

REPRODUCTION AND EARLY STAGES
Thernians don't mate for life. If a female Thernian raises more than one litter, it's not uncommon for her to find a new mate for that litter, as they don't feel the same connection or love to eachother like most other species do and they only get together to reproduce. A male and female Thernian will meet, and both agree and consent to nest a litter of pups together.
Once the female is pregnant, the male often disappears for the majority of the pregnancy. He'll only return every once in a while to bring her food, but she is capable of taking care of herself. Thernians gestate for 100 days, and usually have only 1-2 pups in each litter. They usually have pups during late spring when the snow has melted enough for it to be safe for small pups. Females will usually nest in the same nesting site she grew up, where she knows they have the best chance of survival. Their dens usually are natural small dens or caves in rock or soil, under hollowed trees or other landmarks to make it easier for their pups to find the den. When Thernians are born, they're both blind and deaf and depend on their mother's nursing and protection for the first few months of their lives. They usually open their eyes and can hear around 3 weeks old. The male might pass once or twice during the first month, to bring the female food and to see his own pups, but after that he usually leaves and never returns.
It's their mother's job during the first year of their life to teach them everything they need to know to survive, and she is very protective. Once they turn a year old, their mother will usually take them out on hunts, teaching them to catch small bugs or lizards to start practice their survival skills. It's usually around these times Thernian pups will lose their lives if they're not careful, either natural causes or being hunted by other predators in the mountains. If their pups are born weak, or have other struggles that makes them unable to live or hunt on their own, the Thernian mothers may decide to stick around them for the rest of their lives to take care of them.
The female will teach them how to talk, hunt, find fresh water and to avoid danger for the first four years of their lives before she'll start to wean them to make them independent. She'll stop helping them as much, and sometimes may even have them hunt for themselves. Once their pups have caught their first big prey the mother will stop protecting and hunting for them, and begin treating them like any other member of the pack.Because of this, Thernians learn from a young age that they should always rely on themselves.
Siblings may stick together for a short while, but sooner or later they'll start to fight over the scraps and their hunts, and will usually split up. Thernians recognize family by scent, and while they don't share a strong connection, some Thernians may feel mutual to their siblings or parents.
However, Thernians who are raised outside of the Shadowlands raise their young very differently. They are extremely protective, and may even stick around with their young for their entire lives.

Abillities
Thernians does not have a lot of physical strength, but they have sharp teeth and sharp claws, and is the only species known to use their claws in physical combat. They have a secondary ability adapted over time due to their exposure to magic which is quick bursts of speed, almost like teleportation over very short distances. They are incredible intelligent and quick learners and the most advanced when it comes to magic and can learn spells incredibly quick.
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
Thernians have long, slender and thin bodies with long fur, especially at the cheeks, neck, feet and tail. Their fur is described as long and featherly, sometimes also curled. Their most known features are their large ears with eartufts, as well as the long fur on each of their paws. They have long faces, often described as 'snake-like', and have overall a very regal appearance to them.
Thernians come in dark brown, 'chocolate' colors. They usually have lighter or darker markings in harmonic patterns on their undersides. They can have a lighter brown markings, but not as a main body color. Some may have beige but it's never light and the contrast should not be big. While they most commonly have normal patterns, sometimes they have "Layered" pattern, where the front is darkest and their tail is lightest. These patterns usually can have much lighter colors than normal but are always brown.

Decoration
Decorations are semi common. Living in tall dark mountains, they will usually never find anything worth using as decorations. However, they will often wear magical items that they draw magic from, such as orbs or talismans in necklaces or around their paws.
CULTURE AND DEATH
Very little is known of their culture to the public, as the Thernians keep to themselves and most outsiders don't stay in their dark history-riddled mountains. They are very independent, and while most Thernians lives as travelers and wanderers, a few still decide to stay in their Capital Myenal. Not much is known about the inner circles of their culture, and Thernians are very secretive...
Little is known about how they treat death or how they bury their dead. Beacuse Thernians have such long lifespans, partially thanks to their magic and dark past, most other Raj never get to see a Thernian grow old. It's said that once a Thernian feels it's their time, they will simply wander off never to be seen again...

RANKS
Despite the Thernians' mostly solidary nature, there are a few ranks that are commonly seen amongst them.
NOBLEBORNS
- The leading bloodline and carriers of the Noble Element of Earth. There is surprisingly quite a few of them, due to the Jarls usually having large litters of pups. They hold an unspoken authority over the other Thernians, and are usually much stronger than the common wolf both in authority and in magical strenght. Despite them being high in numbers, a Nobleborn is very rarely seen.
HIGHBORNS
- Are the only wolves that may know the secrets about the Nobleborns, but not all of them. They usually serves as the 'Rings' that protect Myenal and the Noble Family.
RINGSOLDIER
- Ringsoldiers protect the Noblefamily from the shadows. Often considered mages, artists, and assassins, they have honed their skills on protecting the Noblefamily and their secrets.
LOWBORN
- Any regular Thernian that does not fall under the other titles are labelled Lowborns.
Some of the Lowborn Thernian ranks may include Artists, herbalists, healers, merchants, mercenaries, travelers, wanderers and artisans.

Thernian Law
Thernians do not have any spoken laws, and mostly police themselves and what is commonly and socially accepted within their society. Punishments are taken into their own hands.
Diet
They eat what they can catch, such as fish in the rivers, ovis, beavers and hares, even bats, but they never eat what they didn't catch themselves, especially if they find something dead. They'll sometimes hunt elk in the areas nearby. They are generally not very picky, but like to mix their food with berries.
Territory
Described as desolate mountains by outsiders; they make their home in the Shadow Mountains where they blend in very well. It is said from the castle of Myenal in the Halls of the Nobles, one can see over half of the country, but this is unknown. Their mountains are tall, maybe a tall as the mountains in the Highlands and Snowlands, and covered in unnatural blue ice with red plants and trees growing in odd places. The fjords and lakes are unnaturaly blue. But they also have shady and dark places, always covered in mist and fog, and not many goes there.
How to recognize a thernian
Thernians, aside from their very distinct fur type, have a few tricky parts that could potentionally make them hard to recognize, mainly between a Thernian and Caedrics. However there are a few distinct patters Thernians sets them apart. They wil almost always have a darker undersides or faces, somehing Caedrics don't have. They often come with dark face masks, necks and bellies that are colored darker than their main pelt. Aside from that, they will often have some sort of lighter markings, in either white, beige or a light red/orange. Their color will always be tinted to another color, where as Caedrics with the Twilight trait will only be gray with no or blue hue. While most of a Thernian will be dark colored, they sometimes can have lighter patterns where up to 50% of their bodiess are lighter than their base pelt such as wolves with a Layered Pattern. Their main hues are always dark brown or a brownish-purple.
Keys
- They never have undersides that are light with high contrast to their main body. In cases where their underside is lighter it will not have high contrasts and almost blend in with their main color.
- Their pelts always have hued colorations towards brown.
- They do not have high contrast between their main coloration and markings (not counting light markings or patterns), which makes some of their markings blend in.
- Cannot have blue eyes
